“Sun Splash” has released the Following Statement: We have received and are happy to publish a video message of Beenie Man in which he wishes to clear out any doubt about his position concerning homophobic lyrics appearing in some of his old songs.
We would like to think that his words can put an end to all the controversies that the subject has generated. This video reaches us after a journey that Rototom has started in 2005 and which has seen us committed to bringing to the Sunsplash only those artists that respect and accept all people, regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. In 2007 this position has lead us to draw up the Reggae Compassionate Act, an agreement that was supported by reggae promoters and activists of Stop Murder Music and signed, among others, by Beenie Man. In the agreement, the artist committed himself not to sing or make public statement in Jamaica or any other country in the world, that could encourage prejudice, hatred or violence against gay or lesbian people. Beenie Man is part of the 2012 Sunsplash line up, because we believe in his change and his detachment from homophobic positions, as demonstrated on this video.

Musician Teetimus recently landed what may possibly prove to be his most noted work yet with his involvement in the production of American singer/songwriter Trey Songz’s single, Ladies Gone Wild.
The dance track is to be included on the singer’s fifth studio album, Chapter V. Teetimus said being in studio with Trey Songz was a “cool vibe” and that this has set the stage for him to gain even more international exposure as he has already been approached by other big names. “Mi feel like seh Trey Songz really gi mi a highlight. He has been mentioning that the production work for the song was done by me in his interviews and all. When Trey Songz can say Teetimus, people a guh say who that and get interested in my work,” he told The STAR. “I’m a Jamaican, but I produce different types of music, not only reggae/dancehall. It’s a little bit of crossover and a little bit of Jamaican. When I’m overseas and in the studio, a only when mi open mi mouth dem can know mi is a Jamaican,” he laughed. Teetimus also found recent success in his production of the popular Affairs Of The Heart song by Damian Marleyand Bruck It Dung by Vegas. His first taste of international success came from his production of Taste It, a song from Busta Rhymes’ 2002 album It Ain’t Safe No More which eventually went gold. He has since done work with other acts like Jadakiss, Ludacris and Jim Jones. His career as an artiste is also gaining traction as he recently released songs such as Little Boys From Di Ghetto and Ride It with Boom Boom.

Incarcerated Dancehall mega star, Vybz Kartel and prominent American businessman, Corey Todd are apparently back in business and have offered explanations regarding their highly publicized split almost a year ago.
On Monday, reports confirmed that the long-time business partners would reunite after agreeing to a business deal which involves reviving the Street Vybz Rum brand which became a highly popular entity between 2009 and 2011. During their association, Kartel and Todd also created the Vybz Rum brand, Daggering Condoms and later co-owned operations at the Building (now Club Riddim) where they birthed the Street Vybz Thursdays party series. However, Kartel and Todd’s partnership fizzled last May after the American businessman alleged that the Portmore Empire deejay threatened him while alleging that Kartel wasn’t fully committed to their business ventures. Now, nearly nine months after Vybz Kartel was arrested and later charged with murder, drug and obstruction of justice related charges in separate cases, the internationally acclaimed artiste and Todd have settled their differences in order to re-ignite their once successful alliance. In a statement, Todd revealed that he and Kartel started talking back to each other shortly after the deejay’s incarceration. “We started communicating shortly after his incarceration; it was our intention not to make this public knowledge until his release however we can no longer patiently wait for that day. I wish be a voice that will help bring forth his freedom because I can attest his only guilt is association,” he said. With regards to why he and Kartel split, Todd insists that this came down to the people around the self-proclaimed ‘Worl’ Boss,’ but also relents that their strong personalities clashed as time elapsed. “The associates that led to his incarceration are the same associates that cause our partnership to end at the time, but I must add that our egos also clashed. His arrest had a humbling effect on me and caused me to reflect on my own actions. I then lost interest in my present projects and made artistes involved aware that I wish discontinue, this around November,” he said. Meanwhile, in a statement said to be from Kartel, he echoed Todd’s sentiment, stating that the rift between them was based on miscommunication while admitting that the American entrepreneur was one of his closest friends. “What happened between me and Corey was just a misunderstanding. Truth be told I really had some negative elements around me, that bad mind me and Corey partnership because of its success. At the time I was too caught up being world boss to realize I was destroying one of realest friendships I ever had. Being in here made me realize that we did achieve greatness together… after all if a neva fi Corey and Kartel STREET VYBZ woulda never buss in people head and Building would a never Buck pon a Saturday,” he said. In a letter to his fans sent through his common-law wife, Tanesha ‘shorty’ Johnson, Kartel assured them that he and Todd’s reunion will reap several benefits. “Gaza fans just get ready fi start clubbing it and rummin it. Dancehall artiste Moses ‘Beenie Man’ Davis says he is now focused on doing positive music and there will be no more war between himself and longtime rival Bounty Killer. According to Beenie, Bounty Killer is “a thing of the past”.
 In relation to a recent clash in Negril and a series of songs trading insults between the two, the deejay said; “There was no feud between us. It was just to bring back Killa, and now that him return, it is what it is. mi just want him fi duh music because him cyaah live offa who him buss,” he said. The artiste, who went on Entertainment Report in December to bash Bounty Killer for the Lollipop single remake featuring Gabriel, says the past is the past.”The Lollipop thing is his thing and I’m gonna leave it that way. That was last year. right now, I am about positivity. a dat wi deh pon fi this year,” he said. In addition to his new outlook on life and music, Beenie Man also informed Jamaica STAR that his new name was now Ras Paradox, and he is set to release a number of new singles under the new moniker. According to the dancehall artiste, he is reinventing himself. ”I am a man of many dimension. this is a self- boost, self-confidence and a rebuilding process. I have voiced two songs already under the name Ras Paradox,” he said. He continued: “I’m the ‘King in Control’. my new album is coming soon and I have a lot of international features on it including Nicki Minaj and Busta Rhymes. I still have my career, I have not lost anything to Bounty Killer. I still have my Grammy, and Bounty still nuh have none. I have over 18 songs on Billboard and Bounty only have one and a No Doubt song dat. “The artiste also said that this would be the last time that Bounty Killer’s name would be mentioned in his interviews. ”Mek the media know this: anybody wey a duh interview, don’t ask me about Bounty Killer, I’m not his management, just ask me about my music or my youths. a dat mi a focus pon right now,” he said. Beenie Man’s album titled King In Control is slated to be released later this year, and will be produced by his own label, MD Entertainment, and distributed by an international company.
